People around the world go camping when they wish to be surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. There are many mattress options that allow campers nearly the same level of comfort one experiences when sleeping off the ground while still enjoying the simple life of living outdoors.

Most campers who wish to sleep in a tent and will often conduct a bit of research to find an air mattress that is the right size and has the comfort features they desire. Mattresses are available in smaller sizes that fit children, and they range from twin, queen, and king sizes that can sleep a small family or two adults. Campers can choose mattresses at various height levels, with some being nearly as high as a traditional bed. Basic mattresses that are lower to the ground can also be purchased inexpensively.

While the mattress itself is typically made of inflatable rubber, many products now include comfortable fabric overlays to increase warmth and coziness. Others have the quilted feel of a bed mattress and offer features that may be helpful for campers who have back trouble.

Consumers will also need to consider how they will inflate their mattress of choice. Many more expensive models come with built-in pumps that do not require the purchase of extra accessories to inflate the mattress. Most other products will require the use of a bicycle pump, air compressor, or a pump that is specifically built for use with air mattresses. Some campers have even been able to use a common hairdryer to inflate their camping mattress. If purchasing a pump, it is important to ensure that the pump’s nozzle will match the air valve on the mattress. Purchasing a pump that is manufactured by the same company as the mattress can be helpful; however, by simply reading the label, shoppers are more likely to find the right pump.

Sleeping outside does not have to be a one-size-fits-all experience. Camping mattresses are available in a variety of different styles, sizes, comfort levels, and even colors to suit each individual camper’s preferences.
